South American coati

Nasua nasua

Coatis are members of the racoon family. They are omnivorous, feeding on fruit, invertebrates and other small animals, and are found in forests. When free from persecution, as with this specimen photographed in the Iguazu National Park in Argentina, they can be quite unafraid of humans and will raid picnic areas.

South American coati

South American coatis are found in South America east of the Andes from Colombia and Venezuela south to Argentina and Uruguay.
